This project was created for a close personal friend also in similar hobby circles as myself. She paints, customizes and sews clothes for asian ball jointed dolls. The main function of this site is to bring new and returning commissioners to her as well as selling clothing that she creates. Being that she has little to no coding knowledge I determined that the best course of action would be to design on a back end that would be easy to update with little to no coding. Therefore I decided that wordpress would be perfect given that it is easy to update and edit without worry of harming the pre-existing code.

Being as the hobby is primarily driven by taking photographs of dolls and sharing them I decided that incorporating her dolls and work into the site was imperative. The left side bar which displays banner images of each doll’s face with it’s corresponding name is also category driven therefore any new posts that are put in the category for that doll will compile when it is clicked, this allows her to easily include biographies and photos about each doll with the same simple update process.

The colors that were chosen for this design were determined by the client, she wanted a soft and subtle palette of colors that was mainly blue. I pulled green for the background from the main photo being used of her doll. Overall the client has expressed extreme satisfaction with the work done on the site and the ease of updates.

This project was created as a personal hobby site. It serves as a home for my doll photography as well as character concepts and many other things related to my Asian ball jointed dolls. This site was designed using one of my own personal photographs of my fiancee’s doll. This site is being shared by he and I. This site is also build on a wordpress back end.

The logo of this site was created from the initial meaning of the word, Ouroboros. The Ouroboros is an ancient symbol depicting a serpent or dragon swallowing its own tail and forming a circle. It can represent the idea of primordial unity related to something existing in or persisting from the beginning with such force or qualities it cannot be extinguished. This interpretation of the symbol holds a very strong meaning for me. I have also had a long lasting infatuation with dragons. My Fiancee whom is a brilliant artist (And who’s website I am currently working on) did the initial drawing for the logo which i turned into a vector rendering.

I decided to use a gray-scale color scheme to keep a dark background on which the images could be presented but also to create a dramatic presence in the elements shown in this design. I added red only where needed for accents.
